California Parents Demand for Mandarin Speaking Education Spurs New Immersion School
Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) September 24, 2008
The Shu Ren International School opened its doors today. Shu Ren International School aims to become one of the nation’s first Mandarin-English immersion schools offering IBO’s Primary Years Program (PYP) to Pre-K through 5th grade students, and Middle Years Program (MYP) to 6-8th grade students. The school opened with students from Pre-Kindergarten – First Grade, and will add one grade each year.
“We are thrilled to offer children in the Bay Area an opportunity to experience full immersion in the languages and cultures of China and the U.S., while developing the skills, knowledge, independence, and compassion to become active and engaged citizens of the world,” says Jie Moore, founder and head of Shu Ren International School.
Despite the large Chinese population in the San Francisco area, the existing options for Chinese-language education are limited, especially in the East Bay. In addition, with China quickly becoming a rising power in the world, and an increasing number of Americans working in or adopting children from the country, there is currently a huge demand for Chinese language education and cultural exposure. Shu Ren International School aims to fill that need while providing a high-quality, challenging, and well-rounded education.
