Parents Growing Concern Over Gap Year Safety (Ultimate Gap Year Launches Travel Advice Courses for Sixth Formers Throughout UK Schools)
(PRWEB) December 3, 2004
With the lure of low cost airlines and ease of travel, an increasing number of students are planning trips abroad visiting far more remote areas than were ever available to their parents. With over 2500 UK travelers returning each year with malaria, illustrates just a microcosm of the types of difficulties travelers are experiencing. The past year has seen UK citizens experiencing everything from kidnap to contracting dengue fever.
In an aim to increase awareness Ultimate Gap Year have been working alongside 400 schools, providing students with essential safety advice and knowledge before they embark on a gap year or remote travel to developing countries.
‘There are always going to be occasions when travellers become victims of circumstance which is extremely saddening. With a little bit of prior knowledge, gap students can feel better equipped to avoid some of the dramas we hear about in the news and simply get on with discovering the world says Alex Cormack, an ex tank commander in the first Gulf War and founder of Ultimate Gap Year.
With a background of extensive travel experience gained from service in the military and the gap industry, Ultimate Gap Year are running training courses across the country as well as 1-day courses in London for sixth formers who are contemplating taking a gap year. Ultimate Gap YearÂs courses are both suitable for people going with gap organisations or travelling independently. ( http://www.ultimategapyear.co.uk)
ÂTravel is not without risk. The risk needs to be kept to a minimum acceptable level without eliminating the sense of fulfilment for individualsÂ. (Alex Cormack, Managing Director)
