Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, along with Tim Campbell, the CEO and founder of Bright Ideas Trust, are writing to the top 100 companies based in London urging them to boost the economy of the capital by creating an excess of 20,000 new apprenticeships and help Londoners to get into work.

The letter that has been signed by both of them has already been sent to 50 small to medium size companies and 50 of the largest companies based in London within the creative, financial and business sectors. This comes as part of an enormous drive to boost the levels of apprenticeships in London. This campaign has a particular interest on companies within sectors that have not been traditionally linked to the creation of apprenticeships. This is because one of the goals is to highlight the vast range of jobs in which apprenticeships can be found, such as Sony or the Football Association.

“Apprenticeships are an excellent way of creating new jobs and boosting the local economy” commented the The UK Knack Group Managing Director. “This is the way many young people find their path in life, learning and training in many different careers and professions. It is incredibly valuable to give the chance to young people to prove themselves to an employer and the investment in apprenticeships is nothing but a win-win situation. We welcome this initiative from Boris Johnson and Tim Campbell, his “Apprenticeships Ambassador”.
